Efficient algorithms for the optical multi-trees (OMULT) architecture.
In this thesis, we have reported our investigations on efficiently implementing algorithms on the recently proposed Optical Multi-Trees (OMULT) multi-processors interconnection architecture that uses both electronic and optical links among processors. We have investigated algorithms for matrix multiplication of two matrices of size n2 x n2 and two matrices of arbitrary size, the prefix-sum of a series and some fundamental computational geometry problems. We show that some common algorithms for computational geometry---finding the convex hull, the smallest enclosing box, the empirical cumulative distribution function and the all-nearest neighbor problems of n data points can be computed on the OMULT network in O(log n) time, compared to O(√n) algorithms on the Optical Transpose Interconnection System (OTIS) mesh for each of these problems. Finally we have implemented our algorithm for matrix multiplication using the SimJava simulation tool and feel that this is a convenient environment for testing such parallel algorithms.Dept. of Computer Science. Synchronizing of Stabilizing Platform Mounted on a Two-Wheeled Robot
This paper represents the designing, building, and testing of a self-stabilizing platform mounted on a self-balancing robot. For the self-stabilizing platform, a servo motor is used and for the self-balancing robot, two dc motors are used with an encoder, inertial measurement unit, motor driver, an Arduino UNO microcontroller board. A PID controller is used to control the balancing of the system. The PID controller gains (Kp, Ki, and Kd) were evaluated experimentally. The value of the tilted angle from IMU was fed to the PID controller to control the actuated motors for balancing the system. For the self-stabilizing control part, whenever the robot tilted, it maintained the horizontal position by rotating that much in the opposite direction
Econometric Analysis of Production Behavior in the Chemical Industry of Bangladesh: A Panel Data Framework
In this study we have attempted to consider the relationship between the gross output and few explanatory variables in the form of Cobb-Douglas production function model of different firms of Chemical industry of Bangladesh using panel data framework. For analysis purpose we have used data for 4 sub-sectors of chemical industry namely, PVC pipe, Paper, Sanitary ware and Insulator for the period 1999 to 2009.However, for our study purpose we have considered only fixed effect model version of panel data. In this study we consider only four possible cases of fixed effect model which are (1) all coefficients constant across time and individuals, (2) slope coefficients constant over individuals and time but intercept varies across individuals, (3) slope coefficients constant over individuals and time but intercept varies over individuals and time, (4) all coefficients varies across individuals. To stay in the competitive market we have to invest as much possible. Total cost has positive effect on the production. We have considered economies of scale. Results indicate the necessity for appropriate policies at the national level for raising production to increase contribution of chemical industry to GDP
Synthesis of some bis-triazole derivatives as probes for cytotoxicity study
A series of bis[4-N-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl] alkanes (1a-e) and their Schiff bases with 2-adamanta-none (2a-d) and bis [1, 2, 4-triazolo [3, 4-b] - 1, 3, 4-thiadiazol-4-yl] alkanes (3a-e) have been synthesized with high yields. The cytotoxicity study of these newly synthesized compounds against brine shrimp lethality test as well as Structure-Activity-Relationship (SAR) has been discussed
Measuring Customer\u27s Satisfaction on Bus Transportation
The purpose of the study is to examine the factors measuring customers’ satisfaction, especially the impact of service quality on customers’ satisfaction in public transportation industry in the university town of Sintok located in Kedah province of Malaysia. In order to assess the relationships between service quality and customer satisfaction survey http://www.scientificjournals.org/journals2007/articles/1003.htm data were collected from 300 Bus commuters. All hypotheses were tested using Pearson correlations, controlling for the background variables of gender, marital status, ethnicity and education. The results indicate that hypotheses 1 through 5 were supported. Using multiple regressions as a basis for causal paths, a model was developed that examined the influence of all five dimensions of service quality on customers’ satisfaction. The model explained 26.9% of the variance which indicates that 26.9% of the changes in the dependent variable are explained by the independent variables. Altogether, independent variables explained 26.9% of the variations

Female Workers' Attitudes on Industrial Disputes at RMG Sector in Bangladesh: An Empirical Analysis
Industrial disputes one of the important issues that hindrance the development of the sectoral growth. RMG sector in Bangladesh is mainly human resource especially women workers intensive industry and they have remarkable contribution in the economy of Bangladesh. Last few years this sector not contributing as much as we expected because of industrial disputes narrowing the performance of this sector. As the paramount proportion of human resources in garment sector are women workers, so their attitudes has significant impact on minimizing industrial disputes and increasing the productivity at garment industry in Bangladesh. In this study, we have attempted to measure the woman workers attitude on the industrial disputes and its minimization process for sustainable development of this sector. Mixed research methods were used to analyze female workers' attitudes toward the industrial disputes at RMG sector of Bangladesh
Cytotoxicity study of dimethylisatin and its heterocyclic derivatives
Isatin derivatives are bioactive molecules. To study the cytotoxicity and eventually the anticancer activities against cancer cell lines, a series of dimethyl-substitituted isatin derivatives (4-8) starting from isatin thiosemicarbazones (3) had been synthesized in high yields. Investigation of the cytotoxicity of these compounds was carried out against brine shrimp by lethality bioassay. The present study shows that compounds 4, 5, 6 and 8/ with heterocyclic moiety had pronounced cytotoxicity whereas 7, 7/ and 8 were moderately active. It is remarkable that the substituent, X = -OCH3 has greater activity than the bromine atom in this series.
